saturday project

So roughly 5 years ago, very newly married, my husband and I purchased a set of four antique chairs that needed a little TLC. They were painted black and the seat cushions were upholstered in a red-ish leather that was now very worn. (Unfortunately this is one of the only "before" photos I have.)

Although I was skeptical, my husband saw great potential in these chairs, so I jumped at the chance to spend $20 (did I mention we were newlyweds?)! Not long after our purchase, he began the time consuming project of stripping the paint off the chairs, and underneath found the original beautiful red oak wood. Pretty exciting, however, after several grueling hours of stripping one chair, he took a break. Four years later the chairs were still sitting in the basement unfinished...until this past Saturday. After breakfast at our favorite local restaurant we headed to Home Depot to purchase supplies for our project.
We sanded. We stained. We polyurethaned. We stapled. They turned out pretty great! The plan was to finish them and sell because really, as cute as they are, we don't need four more chairs (although we have gone back and forth because I do love how they turned out!). Problem is- not sure where or how to go about selling them at this point. E-bay or Craigslist can be great but we feel there must be some other option. I prefer the scam-free route these days. Anyone have any suggestions for how to advertise something like this? Who knows- maybe this will be the beginning of many similar flip projects! What did you do this weekend? Finish a project? Spend time outside enjoying the weather? Read a good book? I love the weekend. And this one was pretty productive at our house.
